HOBOKEN, N.J. – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's volleyball team kicked off the 2019 New Jersey Challenge with a bang Friday at Canavan Arena, defeating St. John Fisher 3-1 for their fourth straight home win.

After racking up 22 total kills in the first three sets, Stevens was able to hold Steigerwald to just two kills in the final set to grab the victory 25-20, 19-25, 25-19, 25-17.

  • The Ducks were able to keep the Cardinals at arms-length the rest of the way to earn a 25-19 victory.

  • Leading 24-17, senior Sara Hain was able to clinch the match for Stevens with her ninth kill of the contest.
Inside the Numbers
  • The Ducks hit .230 overall in the match, including posting a game-high .429 attack percentage in the third set victory.
  • Sophomore libero Elizabeth Chu produced 22 digs in the contest to give her five straight games with double-digit digs.
  • With her 16-kill 15-dig performance, King now has seven double-doubles this season to lead the team.
  • Hain was second on the team with nine kills, finishing one shy of registering her ninth game this season with at least 10 kills.
Unsung Hero
  • Morton was all over the court tonight, providing the Ducks with eight kills and a game-high six blocks which shattered her previous career-best mark of two set earlier this season.
Chasing History
  • Senior Shelby Stewart added four blocks to bring program record career total to 448 blocks. She leads all active players in NCAA Division III and is tied for 10th across all NCAA divisions in career blocks.

From the Sidelines (Head Coach Annie McShea)
  • "Tonight, we were clicking all the way around. Having multiple people takes a lot of pressure off of individual performances. We played as a team which allowed us to come out on top against a really strong opponent."
