HOBOKEN, N.J. (May 12, 2020)  – It's time for the next installment of "Meet The Duck Tuesday." This week, we caught up with Assistant Wrestling Coach, Anthony Bonaventura.

A 2014 graduate of Waynesburg University, the Long Island native remained at his alma mater as a graduate assistant coach before arriving on Castle Point in 2015. As a Yellow Jacket, Bonaventura posted 87 victories over four seasons, while qualifying for two NCAA championships. Bonaventura earned All-America status at 174 in 2014, finishing as the national runner-up in the highest finish in program history at the time.

As a program, Stevens Wrestling has reached significant milestones since Bonaventura joined the program, capturing conference championships in each of his five seasons on the sidelines, extending Stevens' streak of consecutive league titles to six. Stevens earned its first team trophy at the Division III Championships in 2018 with a fourth-place finish and current junior Brett Kaliner finished second at 141 in 2018 to earn the Ducks' highest individual finish at nationals. Additionally, the Ducks have won a pair of regional championships.

This past season saw six Ducks earn individual titles at the MAC Championship, with five other student-athletes earning medals. After capturing four individual titles at regionals, the Ducks qualified seven wrestlers in total for the 2020 National Championship, marking the largest contingent at the national tournament in program history. Additionally, the program saw a program-record nine named Scholar All-Americans by the National Wrestling Coaches Association and finished third in Division III Scholar All-America team standings to match a program-best.
