WEEHAWKEN, N.J. (April 23, 2022) – The Stevens Institute of Technology softball team was swept in a MAC Freedom doubleheader against Misericordia at home on Saturday, April 23. The Ducks fell 2-1 in the first game of the day and 4-1 in the second.
Senior
Meg Halloran led Stevens with three hits on the day. Fifth-year
Siobhan Cottell and graduate student
Amanda Delorme each had an RBI. First-year gave up only two hits and one earned run in the first game of the day. Stevens fell to 9-15 overall and 5-5 in conference play with the losses.
Junior Alexa McHugh gave up one run and just five hits from the circle in the first game of the day and also scored a run for Misericordia. Junior Kaitlin Redling led the team with three hits on the day. The Cougars improved to 21-6 and 11-1 in conference play with the wins.
Game one was scoreless through the first two innings. Redling hit an RBI single in the top of the third to give Misericordia a lead and then Cottell scored Halloran on an RBI single to tie the game 1-1 after three innings played. The Cougars scored the game clinching run in the fourth on a sacrifice fly. Smith (4-7) put in a strong performance but received the loss for Stevens and McHugh (10-1) earned the win.
The Ducks fell behind early in game two. Misericordia scored three runs in the first and then added one more run in the second to take a 4-0 lead. Stevens' only run came in the fifth inning and the team fell 4-1. Junior

Megan Curtis closed out the game. Senior Miranda Bohn (6-3) earned the win for the Cougars.
Up Next: Stevens has a quick turnaround and travels to DeSales tomorrow, April 23, for another conference doubleheader. Game times are set for 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.
