GENESEO, N.Y. (May 13, 2022) – The Stevens Institute of Technology softball team fell to Babson in eight innings by a score of 3-2 on Friday, May 13, at the NCAA Regional hosted by SUNY Geneseo. Stevens fell to 18-18 on the season with the loss and Babson improved to 36-8.

Alex Schoellig each had two hits to lead the Ducks. Cottell went 2 for 3 with a home run and led Stevens with two RBI on the day. First-year
Kaitlin Smith (8-10) pitched six innings and gave up two earned runs in the loss.
Cottell started the game with a bang for the Ducks in the first inning. She hit a homer to left field to bring home Halloran and give Stevens an early 2-0 lead. Neither side scored again until the Beavers drove in a run on a single to second base and cut the lead to 2-1 halfway through the game.
Babson added another run in the bottom of the sixth to tie the game. Sophomore Chloe Joslin scored on a wild pitch by junior
Erin Kreis to make the score 2-2. Stevens was unable to manufacture any runs in the top of the eighth and the Beavers scored on a bases loaded walk to win the game 3-2.
Sophomore Moira O'Reilly (20-4) pitched a complete game for Babson to get the win and she struck out 13 batters.
Up Next: Stevens is scheduled to face the loser of game two between Geneseo and Mount St. Joseph University. The game is set for tomorrow, Saturday May 14, at 2:30 p.m.
