STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. (January 12, 2023) – Senior Colin Keady finished 12th in the men's weight throw as the Stevens Institute of Technology men's and women's indoor track and field team competed at the St. Thomas Aquinas College Spartan Invite on Friday at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex.
12 total Ducks from the two teams competed and Stevens had participants in the shot put and weight throw for both men and women and just one woman participated in the one mile.
The Rundown
- Keady's best throw went 13.07 meters on his second attempt and his 12th place finish (3rd among DIII participants) was the highest for the Ducks on the day.
- Graduate student Ashley Muliawan finished 27th in the weight throw to lead the Ducks. Her throw went 10.72 meters. Muliawan also placed 28th in the women's shot put by throwing 9.36 meters.
- Graduate student Amanda Antico finished six spots behind Muliawan in the shot put, earning a distance of 8.34 meters, which came on the third try.
- Sophomore James Johnson's farthest shot put went 10.27 meters, coming on his third attempt. That score was good for 35th.
- First-year Gabriel Kovach finished four spots behind Johnson in the shot put. His best score was 10.16 meters on the first try.
- First-years Anacarolina Ventura (8.07m), Claire Deatrick (7.50m), and Josephine Lulaj (6.92m) rounded out the shot put scores for the Ducks.
- In the women's one mile run, first-year Kaitlyn Adams finished with a time of 5:54:16. She finished in 40th place.
- Ventura (8.72m), Deatrick (8.72m), Antico (7.48m), and Lulaj (7.16m) rounded out the day with the weight throw.
