Women's Volleyball Cruises Past Marymount in Non-Conference Action

Hoboken, N.J. – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's volleyball team knocked Marymount University (Va.) in non-conference action on Friday night.

The Ducks (15-5) picked up a 25-17, 25-19, and 25-15 victory over the Saints (3-19).

HOW IT HAPPENED
With the score knotted at three, the Ducks, with Bailey Axelrad serving, reeled off nine of the next 10 markers. Parker Adkins recorded two kills during the run to put Stevens up. Four straight kills, two each by Ella Kraver and Meg Dion, stretched the gap to nine at 17-8 before the Saints dug into the margin with four straight. A kill from Marymount brought the score to 23-17 but kills from Lisboa, and Molly Harris clinched set one.

After Stevens scored the first two points of the second set, Marymount tallied the next four, including two on service aces. The Saints grabbed an 8-7 edge before Stevens countered with five straight markers. Kraver notched a solo block before tacking on a kill to boost the run. The Saint responded with an 8-2 spurt, taking an 18-15 lead. Two unforced Saints errors trimmed the margin to one, but Stevens answered with a set-clinching 8-0 run. Axelrad was strong on the service line, delivering two aces in the rally.

The Ducks raced out to a 9-3 lead in the third and final frame, as Lisboa put down three kills during the spurt. A Meg Dion kill stretched the lead to eight at 14-6, and a 5-0 Stevens run extended the gap to double figures. Dion cemented the match win with a kill, pinning down a set from Alexa Brucculeri.
