SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (May 12, 2024) – Senior Emily Leiby scored four goals and tallied an assist, but it wasn't enough as the No. 14 Stevens Institute of Technology women's lacrosse fell to No. 15 Babson 11-9 Sunday in an NCAA second-round matchup at Stagg Field.
The Ducks end the season with a 17-4 record, falling one win short of matching the program's win total set in each of the last two years. The Ducks went a perfect 10-0 this season in Hoboken, but were 7-3 in away games and 0-1 in neutral contests. Babson (17-2) moves on to play No. 5 Salisbury in the third round.
It was a back and forth game as each team possessed the lead multiple times throughout the game. The victory is the first-ever for the Beavers over the Ducks, as the two teams are now 1-1 all-time versus each other.
Sophomore Felicity Heilferty made seven saves in defeat while sophomore Emma Guzowski made one save in the game. Babson's Kathleen Murphy was a big difference maker in the contest, as she made 14 saves in the contest, finishing the match with a .609 save percentage.
