LOUISVILLE, Ky. – First-year Allison Mitloff claimed National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Region IV First Team honors and classmate Jessica Hsu earned Third Team recognition, as announced by the organization Friday afternoon.
Mitloff began her collegiate career with just two hits in her first 12 at-bats, but finished with 51 in her final 99, ending the season with a program record for highest batting average by a first-year (.477), a mark that also led the conference. In MAC Freedom play, Mitloff hit safely in all 12 conference games, finishing with an astounding .568 average and an OPS over 1.250.
Hsu earned the nod as a utility player after showing plenty of promise across the board in her first collegiate season. In the circle, Hsu finished the year with the 11th-best ERA (2.94) and 6th-best batting average against (.263) in the conference. At the plate, Hsu hit .327 while striking out just five times in 101 at-bats. Hsu played like a seasoned veteran right from the start of conference play, hitting .444 (8-for-18) with two runs and two RBIs in her first five MAC Freedom starts, then capped the year with a 3-for-4, two-RBI day in the MAC Freedom Tournament against DeSales.
