Women's Volleyball Tops Oneonta in Straight Sets

Hoboken, N.J. – The Stevens Institute of Technology women's volleyball team knocked off Oneonta in straight sets to close out the Stevens Quad Tournament on Saturday.

The Ducks (6-5) topped the Red Dragons 25-13, 25-20, 25-20 over the three frames.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Stevens raced out of the gates behind Mallory Eder, who converted a pair of early swings, and Vivian Lisboa, who added a kill, block, and service ace during a 5-1 surge. The Ducks extended their advantage when Alexa Brucculeri stepped to the line and ripped three straight aces, pushing the lead into double digits. Ella Kraver and Ella Boland kept the pressure on late, and Boland capped the frame with a kill to seal a commanding 25-13 opening win.

The Red Dragons responded early in the second set, using strong serving from Cadence Meltz to build a 6-1 lead. Stevens regrouped quickly, with Kraver supplying consecutive kills and an ace to draw even. Both sides traded points through the middle portion of the set, with Molly Harris and Lisboa steadying the Ducks' attack. Down 15-13 after back-to-back Oneonta aces, Stevens seized momentum. O'Neal dropped in a service ace, and Kraver added multiple finishes before Brucculeri delivered two more aces to break the frame open. Kraver ended it with her fourth kill of the set to secure the 25-20 win and a two-set cushion.

The finale opened tightly, with Oneonta pulling ahead 7-3 behind Herrera and Meltz. Stevens countered as Kraver, Boland, and Eder chipped away, but the visitors still held an 18-13 edge. From there, the Ducks closed with a dominant 12-2 run. Kraver ignited the surge with back-to-back points before Sarah Bolduc came off the bench and made an immediate impact, slamming down four kills in the closing stretch. With the momentum fully on their side, Harris set Bolduc for consecutive finishes to bring up match point, and a Oneonta attack error clinched the 25-20 decision and the sweep.
