Women's Soccer Rolls Past Lebanon Valley, 4-0

Annville, Pa. – Alana Odom scored twice as the Stevens Institute of Technology women's soccer team rolled past Lebanon Valley College 4-0 in MAC Freedom action Saturday afternoon.

The Ducks (4-5-3, 3-0 MAC Freedom) received goals from Odom, Alina Friz and Avalyn Irwin while Lucy Smith made three saves to record the shutout.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Lebanon Valley generated the first opportunity of the contest just 35 seconds in, but Smith was there to make the save. After another Smith stop in the eighth minute, Stevens began to apply pressure at the other end. Odom put consecutive attempts on frame in the 12th minute before breaking through just over three minutes later.

In the 16th minute, Stevens broke through with the opening marker. After intercepting a pass near midfield, Friz sprung Odom on a breakaway and fired off a second touch to give Stevens the 1-0 lead. Stevens quickly doubled its lead four minutes, as Friz corralled a loose ball and the back of the net in the 20th minute to make it 2-0.

The Ducks carried the two-goal advantage into halftime and wasted little time adding to it following the break. Odom struck for her second goal of the afternoon just 2:21 into the second half, extending the Stevens lead to 3-0. The graduate student muscled a ball off of a defender before rifling a shot into the upper right corner for the 3-0 margin.

Stevens continued to control the attacking opportunities throughout the second half. Taylor Truglia forced a save in the 54th minute before Odom had another attempt blocked four minutes later. Smith preserved the shutout with her third save of the afternoon in the 69th minute. The Ducks nearly added another in the 77th minute when Mia Sena hit the right post. Just over two minutes later, Stevens found its fourth goal. Victoria Parelli won a ball in a scrum in front of the goal, and set up Irwin who finished the opportunity for the final 4-0 margin.
