Delaney Klaus set a Middle Atlantic Conference Championship record in the 100-backstroke as the Stevens Institute of Technology women's swimming team extended its lead at the 2026 MAC Swimming Championships on Saturday.
Through three days, the Ducks sit in first place with 1,172 points. Misericordia is second with 902 as Messiah sits third with 811. Rounding out the top-five is York (649 points) and Widener (538).
HOW IT HAPPENED
Klaus entered the finals as the top seed after posting a 56.66 in the preliminary round and shaved nearly a full second off that mark in the finals. The sophomore touched the wall in 55.85, winning by nearly two seconds and setting a new MAC Championship record. She surpassed the previous-best time set by Laura Harris of Widener during the 2014 MAC Championships.
Natalia Brunetti and
Hanna Matheson went 1-2 in the 200-butterfly, mirroring their finishes from the preliminary round. After winning the prelims by just under a second, Brunetti pulled away in the finals, touching in 2:07.00 to finish more than five seconds ahead of the field. Matheson followed in second with a time of 2:12.34.
The Ducks captured first place in the 800-freestyle relay, knocking 26 seconds off their seed time. The quartet of
Eszter Kiss,
Megan Koek,
Gabby Sokolik, and Klaus posted a winning time of 7:49.80, finishing just under five seconds ahead of second place.
Kiss continued her strong MAC Championship meet with a third-place finish in the 100-breaststroke, touching the wall in 1:06.77 to hold off Lindsey Rice of Misericordia for the final podium spot. The sophomore also re-broke her MAC Championship record in the 200-freestyle during her leg of the 800-freestyle relay. Adrianna Bertolotti followed closely behind, placing fifth in 1:07.73.
Gabby Tyer (2:16.69) and
Samantha Gallo (2:19.63) placed fourth and fifth, respectively, in the 200-butterfly.
Ashley Settle claimed the B final in the 100-breaststroke with a time of 1:08.83.
Paige Bleckley finished 12th in the 100-backstroke (1:02.77), while
Anjali Gupta placed 14th in the 200-butterfly (2:36.16). Sidney Lanager (1:04.50) and
Abigail Rosingana (1:04.75) competed in the C final of the 100-backstroke.

Stevens closes out the MAC Championships tomorrow, with preliminaries beginning at 9:30 am and finals scheduled for 5:30 pm. The final day of competition includes the 1,650-freestyle, 100-freestyle, 200-backstroke, 200-breaststroke, and the 400-freestyle relay.
