No. 4 Gettysburg Trips Up No. 15 Women's Lacrosse, 12-7

Gettysburg, Pa. – The No. 15 Stevens Institute of Technology women's lacrosse team was tripped up by No. 4 Gettysburg College, 12-7, in a non-conference battle on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Ducks wasted little time getting on the board, scoring on their first possession of the afternoon. Stefanie Sellitto won the opening draw, and after Stevens worked the ball around the offensive end, Alison Murray connected with Sellitto for the game's first marker. Just 48 seconds later, Sellitto struck again, converting a feed from Elise Hensley to give the Ducks an early 2-0 advantage.
Gettysburg responded with a goal at the 11:15 mark, but Maddie Hogan answered to restore the two-goal lead. Stevens capitalized on a Bullets turnover moments later, as Eran Gleason forced the miscue and scooped the ground ball. Alina Friz made it count, registering an unassisted tally with 6:15 remaining in the opening quarter. The home side closed the period with a late goal, trimming the Stevens lead to 4-2 with 1:49 left.

Gettysburg continued its momentum into the second quarter, tying the game just 2:20 in before pulling ahead at the 8:45 mark. Both defenses settled in over the next five minutes, limiting opportunities on both ends. Abby O'Brien was turned away by the Bullets' goalkeeper with 6:58 left, marking one of just two shots on goal during the stretch. Gettysburg broke the scoreless run with 44 seconds remaining in the half, but goalkeeper Emma Guzowski made a save in the final seconds to keep the deficit at 6-4 heading into the break.

Guzowski recorded six saves in the first half, while Sellitto led the Stevens offense with two goals.

The Ducks responded out of halftime, scoring twice in the opening 3:36 of the third quarter to knot the game at six. Murray netted a goal off an assist from O'Brien just 51 seconds into the period, and Hogan followed with an unassisted tally nearly three minutes later. Gettysburg answered with three consecutive goals to close the third quarter, then added another just 50 seconds into the fourth to extend the lead to 10-6.

Hogan halted the run with a free-position goal at the 12:19 mark, but Stevens was unable to close the gap further. Gettysburg netted the final two goals of the contest, as the Ducks managed just one shot on goal over the final 12:19.
