Hoboken, N.J. – The No. 13 Stevens Institute of Technology women's lacrosse team's dominance over the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom showed no signs of slowing down as the Ducks won their 2026 conference opener 23-0 on Wednesday afternoon over King's.
Now winners of their last 21 conference contests (regular season and postseason) dating back to 2023, Stevens (7-3, 1-0 MACF) got at least two goals from eight players and at least two points from a dozen players while holding King's without a single shot.
How It Happened
The Ducks wasted little time getting the offense going, putting five on the board in the first 3:30 of the game, with
Maddie Hogan (twice),
Abby O'Brien,
Gracie Shea, and Stefani Sellitto all scoring early on. Sellitto added two more less than two minutes apart, completing a first quarter hat trick, and Shea added her second of the day less than midway through the first 15, though the team did not score again in the quarter.
The scoring drought ended 90 seconds into the second quarter on O'Brien's second of the day, with
Adeline Obitz initiating the running clock at the 10:14 mark. Sellitto again tacked on two more bisecting the midway mark of the period,
Colleen Ginsberg made it a baker's dozen, and Mallie Colin made it 14-0 at the break with a goal in the final minute of the half.
Goals by Ginsberg,
Kamryn Kramer,
Maddie Sullivan, and
Alina Friz made it 18-0 at the end of the third, while Hogan, Friz,
Callie Slabaugh (twice), and Obitz capped the team's monster performance with the final five of the day in the fourth quarter.
Inside the Box Score
- The Ducks posted the largest conference shutout since joining the MAC Freedom prior to the 2019-20 season nearly three years to the day of its previous top mark – a 21-0 win over Wilkes on April 5, 2023. It also marked the fourth shutout for the program since 2017, with Wednesday's final again serving as the biggest shutout of those four
- Sellitto's five goals, 14 draw controls, and five ground balls were all season-highs; Sellitto now has 77 draw controls for the year, two more than Stevens' opponents combined
- Slabaugh, Obitz, Colin, Kramer, and Sullivan all notched their first goals of the season
- Entering the game with six goals and nine points in 22 games for her career, Obitz finished with two goals and three assists
- Stevens yielded a single successful clear from the Monarchs, who failed on 20 of their 21 attempts during the game
- The +43 margin in shot attempts was Stevens' largest in a game since at least 2012
