No. 14 Women's Lacrosse Back In MAC Freedom Championship With 22-5 Win Over Misericordia

Hoboken, N.J. – The No. 14 Stevens Institute of Technology women's lacrosse team advanced to a sixth straight MAC Freedom Championship game with a 22-5 win in the semifinals Wednesday night over Misericordia from DeBaun Athletic Complex.

Stevens (14-4) led 9-0 after the first quarter, flexing the same muscle that resulted in an unbeaten MAC Freedom regular season campaign in which they outscored the other conference teams 140-16.

How It Happened
Stefanie Sellitto sandwiched a goal between a pair from Alina Friz as the Ducks took a 3-0 lead less than two minutes removed from the opening draw, with Maddie Hogan making it 4-0 at the 12:52 mark. Things cooled slightly off the opening blitz, though Hana Yang, Hogan, and Sellitto pushed the margin to 7-0 at the 5:00 mark; Sellitto and Friz each completed their hat tricks with the final two goals of the period.

Misericordia briefly delayed the 10-goal running clock with their first goal of the game to open the second quarter scoring, but goals 47 seconds apart from Friz and Hogan made it 11-1 at the 9:09 mark. Alison Murray and Claudia Diaz tacked on the final two goals of the half, sending the Ducks to the locker room with a 13-1 lead and a 32-3 advantage in shots.

Sellitto pushed the margin to 14-1 less than a minute into the third, though Misericordia closed to 14-3, then 15-4 (following another Sellitto goal), but the Ducks put the icing on the cake, scoring the next seven goals over a 10-minute block spanning most of the fourth quarter; Alison Murray, Gracie Shea (twice), and Hogan (twice) made it 20-4 just shy of the midway mark of the period. Kamryn Kramer buried a highlight-reel behind-the-back goal for the 21st goal of the night and Callie Slabaugh added the Ducks' final score of the night.
