Farmingdale, N.Y. – The Stevens Institute of Technology men's golf team opened their 2026-27 schedule with a strong showing Saturday at the George Cangero Invitational, taking third after carding a team total of +18 (306).

The Ducks finished just seven shots back of North Carolina Wesleyan and six shots back of Farmingdale State, while coming in two shots better than RPI, four shots better than Hobart, nine shots better than both Hartford and Swarthmore, and 21 shots better than Arcadia, who've finished second to the Ducks at five of the last six MAC Freedom Championships.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
Noah Eide recovered from bogeys on three of his first seven holes, playing the next five at three-under, birdieing the par-four eighth, then going birdie-birdie at the par-four 11^th and par-five 12^th. The senior was the team's low round of the day with a two-over 74.

First-year Troy Nguyen started his collegiate career four-over through six, but weathered the early storm, playing the next nine holes at two-under, courtesy of birdies at the eighth and par-four 15^th, finishing with a four-over 76.

Senior Ben Slicker birdied the par-four fourth, playing the first six holes at one-under. After stumbling at the seventh, Slicker steadied, and played the final 11 holes at just two-over, tying Nguyen with a 76 of his own.

Sophomore Bryce Karty parred eight holes on the front nine and birdied the 12^th, part of an eight-over round of 80. Fellow sophomore Jack Harris parred seven holes during an 11-over round of 83.

Playing as an individual, senior Arav Tank birdied three of his first seven holes (the par-five 3^rd, the par-four 6^th, and par-five 7^th), ultimately finishing his day +2 (74).
