Washington, N.J. – The Stevens Institute of Technology men's golf team opened The Gauntlet on Monday with a team total of 304 strokes (+16), tying for sixth amidst a pack of 11 teams within eight shots of one another.

The Ducks are four shots back of Albright, Franklin & Marshall, and Drew, who all shot an even 300 (+12), three shots back of Juniata, one shot back of Dickinson, tied with Stevenson & SUNY Delhi, one shot ahead of McDaniel, and two shots ahead of Susquehanna.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
Troy Nguyen was the low round of the day for the Ducks. The first-year birdied the par-five 1^st and par-four 5^th during a three-over front nine, then played the back nine at one-under with a birdie at the par-four 14^th, finishing his round with a two-over 74, tying for 16th.

Sebastian Beaver finished one shot back of Nguyen with a three-over 75. Beaver birdied the par-four 3^rd during a two-over front nine, then birdied the par-four 12^th and 14^th, coming in with a one-over back nine, tying for 19th.

Ben Slicker started his day +4 through the first three holes, but steadied from there, birdieing the par-four 6^th, then playing the back nine at even par, finishing his day with a five-over 77 and a tie for 26th place. 

Arav Tank started his day with five straight pars, then added a birdie at seven during a two-over front nine. He added five pars on the back nine, finishing his day with a 78 (+6), tying for 34th. Noah Eide tied for 48th with an 80 (+8) for the day, playing both the front and back nine at four-over, parring 11 holes.

Playing as an individual, Bryce Karty birdied the par-five 1^st and par-four 6^th, going out one-under. After stumbling in the early goings of the back nine, he ended his round in style with back-to-back birdies at the par-four 17^th and 18^th, finishing with a six-over 78.
