Isabelle Knott scored her first career goal as the Stevens Institute of Technology women's soccer team drew with Plattsburgh State 1-1 on Sunday afternoon at Rams Field.
The Ducks (0-0-2) finished with a 17-13 advantage in shots and put eight attempts on goal while earning their second consecutive draw to open the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
After Plattsburgh State registered the first two shots of the contest, Stevens began to find its footing offensively.
Alana Odom put the Ducks' first attempt on target in the 13th minute before
Kaitlyn Pettit and
Malia Chopra followed with chances over the next seven minutes. Stevens also earned three corner kicks during the stretch as the Ducks began to apply pressure in the attacking third.
Stevens continued to create opportunities as the opening half progressed.
Taylor Truglia forced the Plattsburgh goalkeeper into a save in the 29th minute before Pettit put another attempt on frame less than three minutes later.
Victoria Parelli, who scored Stevens' lone goal against Westfield State on Saturday, came off the bench and tested the goalkeeper in the 40th minute.
Stevens entered the break holding an 11-4 advantage in shots and a 4-2 edge in corner kicks.
Plattsburgh State broke the deadlock 10 minutes into the second half with its first shot on frame of the stanza. Bailee Lafountain played a through ball from near midfield that found Kyra Whitman, who finished from 35 yards out to give the Cardinals a 1-0 advantage in the 55th minute.
The Ducks responded by pushing for the equalizer.
Hannah Casale put an attempt on target in the 64th minute before Stevens earned a free kick following a Plattsburgh foul. Knott stepped up and converted the opportunity in the 69th minute, sending the free kick toward the bottom-right corner, where it slipped across the goal line following a touch from the goalkeeper to pull Stevens even at 1-1.
Plattsburgh generated several opportunities over the closing stages, but
Lucy Smith kept the match level. Smith made four saves over the final 16 minutes, including back-to-back stops in the 82nd minute. She added another save in the 88th before Stevens nearly found the winner in the final two minutes. Chopra put a shot on goal with 1:12 remaining, but the attempt was stopped as the teams settled for the draw.

- Knott's goal was the first of her career and came on just her fourth shot in 19 career games.
- The Ducks put eight shots on goal compared to five for the Cardinals.
- Odom and Pettit led Stevens with three shots apiece, while McCann, Chopra and Casale each recorded two.
- Smith played all 90 minutes in goal and finished with four saves.
