Amanda Nann is in her second year as a member of the Stevens Institute of Technology field hockey coaching staff. Nann, who starred at C.W.Post University from 2007-2010, is a three-time National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) All-American.
"I'm very excited to have Amanda on staff," Beach said. "Throughout the interview process it was clear that she was passionate about the game and interested in coaching long-term. I know her personality will match well with our group of student-athletes and I can't wait to integrate her fully into our program.
In her first season, Nann helped lead the Ducks to an overall mark of 16-7 and an ECAC Mid-Atlantic title - the first in program history. Nann helped three players earn all-conference honors as the Ducks earned the Empire 8's regular-season title and reached the conference championship game.
As a player, Nann earned first-team All-America honors in 2010 and second-team nods in both 2008 and 2009. She was a four-time Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) All-Star and four-time All-PSAC honoree, graduating from Post with career records in goals (64) and points. The 2007 womensfieldhockey.com Rookie of the Year earned NFHCA National Academic Squad acknowledgement in 2008 and 2009, and was recognized as the 2010 ECAC Offensive Player of the Year. She also helped her 2007 squad to the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II Field Hockey Championship semifinals.
Nann received a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and has spent time as an assistant coach at Friends Academy in Locust Valley, N.Y., helping to guide her team to Nassau Country and Long Island titles. She also has coached and instructed at Future Stars Sports Camps and C.W. Post Field Hockey Clinics.
"I am very excited to have been given this great opportunity to work alongside Coach Beach and am eager to share my wisdom and passion for the game with the team,” said Nann. “Overall I am thrilled to be a part of the Duck community and can't wait for the season to begin."
Nann will look to help the Ducks back to the Empire 8 tournament where they hope to earn the conference’s automatic berth in the NCAA Division III Field Hockey Championship. Last year, Stevens reached the conference and ECAC Metro/South semifinals, finishing the year with an overall mark of 12-8.
