Christie Lonsky was named the top assistant coach of the Stevens Institute of Technology field hockey program in August of 2014 by Head Coach Emily Beach.
"We are thrilled to have Christie on staff this year," said Beach. "She brings with her a wealth of high-level playing experience and knowledge of the game. She has already contributed in large ways working primarily with our forwards and midfielders, and I'm looking forward to the progress we will make in that area."
Lonsky will assist in all aspects of the Stevens Institute of Technology field hockey program including practice planning and implementation, skill development, game preparation, recruiting, fundraising and more.
A graduate of Rutgers University in December of 2013, Lonsky received her degree in Exercise Science and Sports Studies with a focus in Applied Kinesiology.
Lonsky played college field hockey at the NCAA Division I level, starting her career at Providence College before transferring to Rutgers in the fall of 2011. At Rutgers, Lonsky was a member of the Big East All-Academic squad, eclipsing double-digit points twice in her Scarlet Knight career. The standout tallied 10 career goals and was second on the Scarlet Knights in scoring. She accumulated 23 career points and saw action in 49 games.
Lonsky was a member of the United States Indoor Field Hockey team in 2012 and 2013, also being selected to play on the New Jersey High-Performance Team over that same time period.
The Dingmans Ferry, Pa. native also has spent time working at University Orthopedic Associates in Somerset, N.J.
In addition to her previous field hockey and professional experience, Lonsky has also done a great deal of community service over the years, taking part in numerous events such as the March of Dimes, Relay for Life and A Better World Soup Kitchen to name a few.
"I am excited for the opportunity to work with Coach (Emily) Beach and what is a great group of players," commented Lonsky. "The team has been working incredibly hard over the first 11 days, and I'm looking forward to pushing them to new heights."
The Ducks open their 2014 season Friday at No. 11 The College of New Jersey.
