Amelia (Mel) Ditolvo is in her first season as an assistant softball coach. She joins the program after completing her playing career as a four-year starter at St. John's University.
Ditolvo appeared in 130 games for the Red Storm, making 116 starts. The seven-time Big East All-Academic Team selection totaled 60 years over her four seasons in Queens, including six homers, while driving in 32. Showing a knack for getting on base, Ditolvo drew 26 walks in her sophomore season, which is tied for the fourth-most in any single season in St. John's history. Ditolvo also swiped 16 bases and scored 50 runs. In the field, Ditolvo was primarily a shortstop and finished with a .900 career fielding percentage. She also made one career appearance in the circle.
The position at Stevens marks the first collegiate coaching position for the Bordentown, New Jersey native. Prior to arriving on Castle Point, Ditolvo served as a defensive clinic coach for the Jersey Witches Softball Program, where she also previously had a stint as an assistant coach for the organization's 18U program. Additionally, she volunteered as a defensive skills clinic coach at Eastchester High School and completed her student teaching requirement at P.S. 188Q Kingsbury School in Queens.
Ditolvo graduated cum laude from St. John's with a bachelor's of science degree in childhood education, with a concentration in psychology. She was a six-time dean's list honoree for the school of education.
