Stevens Institute of Technology head softball coach Emily Kaczmarek announced the hiring of program alumna Christine LaRochelle as an assistant coach in September 2023. In her role, LaRochelle will primarily work with the squad’s pitchers.

LaRochelle toed the rubber for the Ducks from 2016-19 and amassed 31 victories with a sparkling 2.74 ERA over 403 innings (77 appearances). The Somerset, New Jersey native struck out 224 and had an impressive 40 complete games with six shutouts and three saves. Her career ERA ranks among the top marks in program history.

In the classroom, LaRochelle completed both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in systems engineering in 2019, finishing her academic time in Hoboken with a 3.91 GPA. A multiple-time President’s List selection, LaRochelle was recognized by the College Sports Communicators (then known as the College Sports Information Directors of America) as the First Academic All-American in program history. 

Following her graduation, LaRochelle has worked at Protiviti in New York City, where she is a technology consultant with the Enterprise Applications Solutions team. She also interned at Protiviti and L’Oréal USA, gaining experience in both technology consulting and in logistics and inventory.

The position will be the first collegiate coaching opportunity for LaRochelle, who has already begun her duties.
