Attila Lukacs enters his first season as an assistant coach with the Stevens Institute of Technology women’s fencing team in 2007-08. He will primarily work as the epee coach for both the men’s and women’s squads this season.
During the 2007-08 year, Lukacs assisted in guiding the men’s team to a 12-13 overall record. At the Middle Atlantic Collegiate Fencing Association Championships, Lukacs helped the team capture a sixth-place finish as Lowden Charles finished first in the foil division.
As of 2006, Lukacs has maintained the position of Senior Coach at the North Shore Fencers Club in Great Neck, N.Y. From 2004-06, he acted as the assistant coach for MTK, the Hungarian Athletic Club in Budapest, Hungary. For the past six years, Luckacs has assisted in numerous international fencing camps.
Lukacs was a 10-time Hungarian National Champion for his career. He has earned a pair of third-place finishes at the Junior World Cup in 2001, first in Budapest and then in Nimes, France. In 1999, he helped guide his team to a third-place finish at the Junior European Championship in Portugal. Luckacs finished in ninth place overall at the Cadet World Championship in Venezuela in 1998.
Lukacs has earned two degrees, Engineering Management and Security Technology Engineering from Donat Banki Mechanical Engineering College in Budapest.
