Head women's lacrosse coach Karen Shaddock announced the hiring of Emily Bitka as an assistant women's lacrosse coach.
The Amherst, New York native arrives on Castle Point after a one year coaching internship at Slippery Rock University. During her time at "The Rock", Bitka monitored the academic performance of student-athletes, while managing team travel and field and facility use. Bitka also assisted with the program's recruiting efforts and worked to build media and community relationships to support the women's lacrosse program.
As an undergraduate, Bitka was a two-year captain for the Slippery Rock women's lacrosse program, holding multiple program records at the time of her graduation and is the NCAA's single-season record holder in ground balls and ground balls per game . She was a two-time All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference honoree and was named the conference's Player of the Year in 2018. The goalie was an Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association All-American in her senior season and was named Most Valuable Player of the IWLCA Senior All-Star Game.
Bitka began her collegiate career at the University of Albany, where she spent two seasons with the Great Danes, making two trips to the America East Conference Championship.
