Kody DuBarry

Kody DuBarry

Kody DuBarry is in his second season as the top assistant coach for the Stevens Institute of Technology men’s volleyball program and first women’s volleyball team.

DuBarry will assist Head Men’s Volleyball Coach Patrick Dorywalski and Head Women’s Volleyball Coach Glenn DeHaven with all aspects of their respective programs.

“We are excited to have Kody join the team,” commented Dorywalski “He brings a ton of knowledge and excitement to the program.”

In 2015, DuBarry helped lead the men's volleyball program to the school's first-ever team National Championship. His ability to study game-film and opponents tendencies makes him a vital part to the team's success.

DuBarry most recently spent three seasons as an assistant coach with the Minot State University women’s volleyball program. During that time, his primary coaching roles revolved around passing and defense along with a great deal of work with the outside hitters. In each of his three seasons, the MSU program showed major growth and improvement, beginning with a record of 2-18 and improving to seven wins in 2013 and eight wins in 2014. Six players – two in each year – earned all-conference honors as DuBarry played a major role in helping the program transition from NAIA affiliation to NCAA Division II.

A native on Huntington Beach, Calif., DuBarry also handled practice planning and implementation, strategy, film work and more, and was a major player in the program’s recruiting throughout his tenure on the Beavers; sidelines.

DuBarry will draw on a wealth of playing and coaching experience while assisting both programs at Stevens. He played collegiately at the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California after earning all-conference honors three times as a member of the Oceanview High School program.

Upon graduating from Pacific in 2010, DuBarry immediately jumped into coaching, working as an assistant coach with the Palos Verdes High School program in addition to serving as an assistant with the Surf City Girls Volleyball Club. In November of 2011, DuBarry was named the head coach of the Surf City program and became the head coach of the Marina High School boys team in February of 2012.

DeHaven – who guided his women’s team to the Hoboken Regional Final of the 2014 NCAA Division III Women’s Volleyball Championship – is also pleased to get DuBarry on board.

“I’m really looking forward to working with Kody. His experience, energy and love of the of the sport will help our program move forward.”

DuBarry received a B.A. in Communications from Pacific in August of 2010. He currently resides in Jersey City, N.J.
