Pete Galea will begin his second season as an assistant coach at Stevens Institute of Technology and expressed his pleasure in being part of the staff. “I am proud to be in my the second year working with the student-athletes at Stevens Institute of Technology as an assistant coach under the strong leadership of Head Coach Mike Clayton and working with the outstanding assistant coach Damian Logan and the other Stevens coaches."

In High School, Galea wrestled for the undefeated Brentwood High School team in N.Y., under the tutelage of the one of the all-time great coaches in High School history, Joe Campo, where Galea learned from the start, great technical skills.

Galea went from the Brentwood powerhouse to defending NCAA Division I Championship institution, Iowa State University, and wrestled under the great coaches Harold Nichols and Les Anderson. As a true freshman, Galea made the Iowa State varsity team that repeated for a second NCAA Championship. 

During his tenure, Galea was the first wrestler to win the Big Eight/Twelve Championships four times, amassing the best record in conference history 36-0-0. He was an NCAA Finalist and two-time NCAA All-American as well as a two-time U.S.A. Freestyle All-American.  Also, he won the “Midlands Championships” over greats, Chuck Yagla, Mike Frick and Mark Churella, all three were “NCAA Championship Outstanding Wrestler Award” winners. Galea also claimed the “Northern Open” over greats, Lee Kemp and Kelly Ward.

Galea earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Iowa State University and a Master’s of Science degree at Northeastern Illinois University. 

“I am committed to assisting all the coaches in helping the student-athletes at Stevens Institute of Technology both academically and in athletics” Galea said.
