HOBOKEN, NJ – Freshman midfielder Chris Barsky (Council Rock, PA/Council Rock) scored one goal and added an assist as Stevens Institute of Technology rallied from an early deficit to earn a 3-1 win over Albright College on Wednesday evening at DeBaun Field.
Stevens earned its seventh straight win to improve to 11-2. The game was the Ducks final non-conference contest of the season. Stevens closes out its schedule with five straight Skyline Conference contests. Albright drops to 1-10-2.
Barsky snapped a 1-1 tie with an unassisted goal in the 52nd minute to put the Ducks ahead. He dribbled in the left side of the penalty area and beat Albright goalkeeper Ryan Manbeck inside the left post from eight side. Barsky then assisted on a goal by freshman Brian Marks (Yardley, PA/Pennsbury) in the 77th minute to put the game out of reach. It was Marks’ team-leading eighth goal of the season.
Stevens was forced to come from behind as Mike Pugh connected on a shot to the upper left corner from the top of the penalty area in the 17th minute. It was the Lions’ only shot on goal in the opening half.
The Ducks pulled even at the 32:45 mark as senior Ethan Jayson (Canon City, CO/Canon City) played a long pass ahead from the back to sophomore Josh Ottinger (Schnecksville, PA/Parkland) who connected the ball in the penalty area and deposited a shot into the lower right corner.
Stevens held a 19-7 advantage in total shots and a 9-0 advantage in corner kicks. Ryan Manbeck made five saves for Albright, while junior Sean Stevenson (Phoenix, AZ/Brophy College Prep) stopped two shots for Stevens.
Stevens returns to action on Saturday, October 19, when it hosts USMMA-Kings Point in a 2 p.m. game at DeBaun Field.
