HOBOKEN, N.J. – Senior Giuseppe Incitti (River Edge, NJ/Bergen Catholic) scored in the 82nd minute to snap a scoreless deadlock and lead Stevens Institute of Technology to a 2-0 win over FDU-Florham on Wednesday in a men’s soccer game at DeBaun Field.
Stevens earns its fifth straight win, improving to 9-2 overall. FDU-Florham drops to 6-4-1.
The goal for Incitti, his seventh of the season, was his second straight game-winning goal within the final nine minutes of a game. His goal with 3:14 left led the Ducks to a 1-0 win over New Jersey City University on Monday.
Sophomore Josh Ottinger (Schnecksville, PA/Parkland) set up the game-winning goal when he sent a free kick from 35 yards into the penalty area. Incitti redirected Ottinger’s low line drive past FDU goalkeeper Zack Roth and into the lower left corner at the 81:50 mark.
Stevens added an insurance goal four minutes later. Freshman Edouard Bordet (New York, NY/Lycee Francais) took a pass through the middle from freshman Chris Barsky (Council Rock, PA/Council Rock) and scored on a drive to the right side of the net at 85:47.
FDU-Florham had one of the game’s best scoring opportunities in the 57th minute when freshman Yoly Kloepper broke in on Stevens junior goalkeeper Sean Stevenson (Phoenix, AZ/Brophy College Prep), but Stevenson made a save from point-blank range to keep the game scoreless.
Stevens held a 16-7 advantage in shots, including 10-3 in the second half. Roth turned away 10 shots for the Devils, while Stevenson made six saves for the Ducks. Stevens also held a 7-1 advantage in corner kicks.
The Ducks return to action on Saturday, October 12, when they host Wilkes on Homecoming in a 1 p.m. game at DeBaun Field.
