Men's Soccer Earns No. 1 Seed for ECAC Metro Tournament

HOBOKEN, N.J. - The Stevens Institute of Technology men’s soccer team was selected as the top-seed for the eight-team ECAC Division III Metro Soccer Championship. Stevens will host William Paterson University on Wednesday, November 13 at 7 p.m. at DeBaun Field.

Stevens (14-4-2) is making its second straight postseason appearance and first appearance in the ECAC Metro Tournament since 1990. The Ducks fell to USMMA-Kings Point in the championship game of the Skyline Conference tournament, 4-1 on Saturday. Stevens earned the conference’s automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament last season.

The higher-seeded team will be the host in each of the three rounds. Stevens went 9-1 at DeBaun Field this season.

Stevens is led offensively by senior Giuseppe Incitti (River Edge, N.J./Bergen Catholic) who has a team-leading 13 goals and three assists for 29 points. Freshman forward Brian Marks (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury) has 30 points on 10 goals and 10 assists. Sophomore forward Josh Ottinger (Schnecksville, Pa./Parkland) has 25 points on eight goals and nine assists. All three players earned All-Skyline first-team honors.

William Paterson (8-8-1) finished in a three-way tie for sixth place in the New Jersey Athletic Conference along with Montclair State and New Jersey City. The Pioneers will be the sixth NJAC team that Stevens has this season. The Ducks recorded wins over Rutgers-Newark, Richard Stockton, College of New Jersey and New Jersey City and suffered a 2-0 loss to Kean. William Paterson is led by freshman forward Eric Kinckle who leads the team with six goals and 16 points. Freshman midfielder Daniel Walker has five goals and 12 points.

Two of Stevens’ four losses came against Kings Point this season. The Ducks surrendered 21 goals in 20 games, but nine of those goals came in the two losses to the Mariners (5-2 and 4-1). Stevens is 3-0 against teams in the tournament field, having recorded two wins over Skyline foe St. Joseph’s (5-1 and 3-0) and a 1-0 win over New Jersey City.
