UNION, N.J. – Seniors Erin Rowe (Dayton, Ohio/Oakwood) and Rachel Luch (Chester, N.Y./Monroe-Woodbury) and sophomore Emily Schlipf (Edmond, Okla./Santa Fe) won two events each to lead Stevens Institute of Technology to a 123-69 win over Kean University in a women’s swimming meet at D’Angola Pool.
Stevens captured 10 of the 11 events, improving to 9-3. Kean is 5-5.
Rowe captured the 50-yard freestyle (26.50) and the 100-yard freestyle (59.81), Luch won the 1000-yard freestyle (12:41.53) and the 200-yard breaststroke (2:37.31) and Schlipf finished first in the 200-yard butterfly (2:21.65) and the 500-yard freestyle (5:41.40).
Stevens’ other two individual victories came in the 200-yard freestyle from sophomore Karen O’Shea (Union, N.J./Union) and in the 200-yard individual medley from sophomore Michelle Aranowski (Greensburg, Pa./Central Catholic) who edged freshman Jessica Pruzinsky (Garfield, N.J./Garfield). The Ducks also received a strong performance from sophomore Becky Brancato (Merchantville, N.J./Pennsauken) who trimmed 20 seconds off her top time in the 200-yard butterfly (2:44.06).
Kean earned its only victory in the 200-yard backstroke as junior Shaina Rudolph (2:37.15) edged O’Shea (2:37.31) by less than two tenths of a second.
The Stevens swimming squads return to action on Wednesday, January 29, when they host New York Maritime in a meet beginning at 5 p.m.
