MADISON, N.J. - The Stevens men's soccer team will have to wait another day before it opens play in the NCAA Division III Championship. The Ducks, scheduled to play Muhlenberg on Friday at 1:30 p.m., in the second round at Drew University, had their game postponed due to the high winds in the region. The teams will play at the same time on Saturday.
Drew will play Virginia Wesleyan in the first game at 11:00 a.m. with the winners meeting on Sunday in the regional final at 1:30 p.m.
The live statistics from the game will be broadcast on the web for the Stevens-Muhlenberg game on Saturday. If the Ducks advance, the live stats will also be broadcast on Sunday.
Stevens, which earned a No. 6 ranking in the latest National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Division III coaches' poll, enters the game with a record of 18-1-2. The Ducks have compiled an 18-game unbeaten streak (17 straight wins) since suffering a 1-0 loss to Muhlenberg on September 6 in the Mule Invitational.
Muhlenberg (17-4-1) advanced to the second round after defeating Gordon in penalty kicks on Wednesday night. The teams played to a 2-2 double-overtime tie (the game is officially recorded as a tie) before the Mules advanced on penalty kicks, 3-1. Muhlenberg goalkeeper Chris Davis stopped three consecutive Gordon penalty kicks to help the Mules advance.
In the first meeting between the teams on September 6, Muhlenberg's Adam Milberg scored on a shot from 35 yards in the 60th minute for the only goal of the game. The Mules held a 21-12 advantage in shots and a 7-4 edge in corner kicks.
Stevens will be sponsoring a fan bus to the game on Saturday which will depart at 12:30 p.m. from the circle outside of Tech Hall.
