MADISON, N.J. – Senior Jess Soltysik (Pennsauken, N.J./Pennsauken) had five goals and two assists while junior Juliet Pullis (Boonton Township, N.J./Mountain Lakes) added four goals and two assists to lead Stevens Institute of Technology to a 24-1 win over FDU-Florham on Saturday in a non-conference women’s lacrosse game.
Stevens (11-2) received goals from 10 different players. The Ducks, who held a 53-5 advantage in shots, scored four goals in the first seven minutes to build a quick cushion. Junior Lindy Gibbons (Worcester, Mass./Worcester Academy) scored just 58 seconds into the game off an assist from Pullis. Sophomore Rebecca Quinn (Damascus, Md./Damascus) added an unassisted goal in the third minute and then assisted on a goal by sophomore Valerie Barnhart (Gilbertsville, Pa./Boyertown Area) in the sixth minute. Senior Emma Tejada (East Brunswick, N.J./East Brunswick) scored 6:26 into the game for a 4-0 Stevens lead.
FDU-Florham (0-10) scored its only goal at the 7:11 mark on a free-position shot by freshman Abby Hildebrand.
Barnhart and Quinn added three goals each for Stevens while sophomore Kim Mirra (Aston, Pa./Sun Valley) had two goals and three assists – all in the first half. Sophomore Corina Kellner (Levittown, N.Y./MacArthur) scored her first two goals of the season, both in the second half.
Senior goalkeeper Kristine Conley (Ossining, N.Y./Our Lady of Victory), ranked 16th in the nation in goals-against average (6.31) entering the game, surrendered just one goal while making two saves. Jenn Kessler stopped 14 shots for the Devils.
Stevens returns to action on Wednesday, April 23, with a 7 p.m. Knickerbocker Lacrosse Conference game at Montclair State.
