Hoboken, N.J. – Stevens Institute of Technology head women's lacrosse coach Maddie Buechli announced the addition of Katie Walsh as an assistant coach to the program's coaching staff.
 
Walsh arrives in Hoboken following a decorated collegiate playing career that included stops at Stony Brook University, Rider University and FDU-Florham, earning multiple All-America and all-conference honors while competing at both the Division I and Division III levels.
 
Walsh most recently competed at Stony Brook, starting all 22 games during her final collegiate campaign, totaling 50 points on 34 goals and 16 assists while adding 22 ground balls and 12 caused turnovers. Walsh finished fourth on the team in both assists and points and registered a season-high five goals and six points in the CAA Championship Game against Towson.
 
Prior to Stony Brook, Walsh spent two seasons at Rider, where she earned First Team All-MAAC honors in 2025 after receiving Second Team recognition one year earlier. During her final season with the Broncs, Walsh led the team with 59 points on 54 goals and five assists while ranking among the top five in the MAAC in both scoring and goals per game. She also paced Rider and ranked second in the conference with 114 draw controls. Walsh finished her Rider career with 97 goals, 16 assists, 203 draw controls, 69 ground balls and 25 caused turnovers.
 
Before making the move to Division I, Walsh enjoyed a decorated two-year career at FDU-Florham. She was twice named the MAC Freedom Midfielder of the Year and earned First Team All-MAC Freedom honors in each of her two seasons. Walsh was also named the 2021 MAC Freedom Rookie of the Year. Nationally, Walsh earned All-America recognition from both the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association and USA Lacrosse during her time with the Devils. She was an IWLCA Second Team All-American in 2022 after collecting Third Team honors in 2021 and also received USA Lacrosse All-America recognition in both seasons. Walsh added IWLCA First Team All-Boardwalk Region and All-ECAC First Team accolades to her résumé.
 
As a first-year in 2021, Walsh helped guide FDU-Florham to the MAC Freedom Championship and the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament while earning tournament MVP honors. The following season, she led the MAC Freedom and ranked third nationally in Division III with 89 goals. During her tenure, Walsh established FDU-Florham single-game records for goals, ground balls, caused turnovers and draw controls, along with single-season records for ground balls and draw controls.
 
Walsh also brings several years of coaching experience to Hoboken. She served as an assistant coach with Long Island Jester East Girls Lacrosse during the 2025-26 academic year, assisting with practice planning, positional instruction and player development. She has also coached with AIM Lacrosse Club and STEPS Lacrosse Club, working with youth players on skill development, offensive and defensive concepts, decision-making and game preparation. Walsh graduated from Rider in May 2025 with a Bachelor of Science in psychology before earning her Advanced Graduate Certificate in Coaching from Stony Brook in May 2026.
