HOBOKEN, N.J. – Sophomore attack Valerie Barnhart (Gilbertsville, Pa./Boyertown Area) scored four goals and junior midfielder Juliet Pullis (Boonton, N.J./Mountain Lakes) added two goals to lead Stevens Institute of Technology to an 8-2 win over Kean University in a Knickerbocker Lacrosse Conference game on Saturday night at DeBaun Field.
Stevens (9-2, 2-0 Knickerbocker) outscored Kean (4-3, 0-2 Knickerbocker) 6-1 in the second half to pull away. Stevens held a 37-10 advantage in shots, but Kean stayed close as junior goalkeeper Adriane Damiano stopped 17 shots.
The Ducks never trailed in the game. Barnhart scored an unassisted goal in the seventh minute and Pullis added a free-position goal in the 17th minute to give Stevens a 2-0 lead. Kean received a free-position goal from sophomore Laura Pointon in the 22nd minute to pull the Cougars within 2-1 at halftime.
