EWING, N.J. - Junior forward Adam Kalbermatten (Allentown, Pa./Central Catholic) scored off a feed from freshman Nick Gkionis (Jackson, N.J./Jackson) in the 52nd minute to lead the Stevens men's soccer team to a 1-0 win over the College of New Jersey on Wednesday night at Lions' Stadium.
Stevens (3-1-2) earned its third straight shutout and fourth shutout in six games. The College of New Jersey falls to 2-5.
Kalbermatten lofted a shot from the top of the penalty area over TCNJ goalkeeper Shawn Mecchi at 51:16 for his third goal of the season.
Senior goalkeeper Sean Stevenson (Scottsdale, Ariz./Brophy College Prep) stopped five shots for Stevens. With eight seconds left in regulation, TCNJ freshman Marc Cino blasted a shot from the penalty spot, but Stevenson made a diving save to his right to preserve the shutout.
Stevens returns to action on Saturday, September 20, when it hosts defending national champion Messiah College in a 4 p.m. game at DeBaun Field.
