Field Hockey wins first game of the season; Ducks defeat Trinity, D.C. 1-0

Freshman Beth Rychcik netted her first goal of the season to lead Stevens past Trinity.

WASHINGTON, D.C.-- Freshman midfielder Beth Rychick (Pleasant Valley, N.Y./Arlington) tallied her first goal of the season to help lead Stevens Institute of Technology field hockey team to a 1-0 win in overtime over Trinity Sunday afternoon. With the win, the first year Stevens’ program moves to 1-11. 

Rychcik netted the game winner with about five minutes remaining in overtime.  The Ducks also dominated the majority of the game and had the advantage in shots and corners. 

Sophomore Katherine Freed (Rutherford, NJ/Rutherford) recorded the shutout for the Ducks and had 12 saves in the game.

The Ducks return to action Wednesday, October 20 when they travel to Rosemont for a 4 p.m. start.
