Men's Soccer edges Manhattanville 1-0 behind Marks, Celentano

PURCHASE, N.Y. - Junior forward Brian Marks (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury) scored the only goal of the game in the 21st minute and sophomore goalkeeper Chris Celentano (Newton, N.J./Newton) stopped eight shots to lead the Stevens men's soccer team past Manhattanville 1-0 in a Skyline Conference game on Wednesday.

Stevens earned its ninth straight win, improving to 15-1-1 overall and 7-0 in conference play.  The Ducks can clinch the top seed in the Skyline Conference Tournament with a win at Mount Saint Mary on Friday, Oct. 22.  Manhattanville drops to 8-9 overall and 5-2 in the conference.

Marks accounted for all the scoring when he tapped in a rebound off of Manhattanville goalkeeper Francesco Notaristefano at the 20:47 mark.

Celentano had seven of his eight saves in the second half as the Valiants applied pressure.  He made key stops against Michael Bryan from 10 yards and Chris Myrtos off a free kick in the second half to preserve the lead.

Stevens held a 15-11 advantage in shots and a 3-2 edge in corner kicks.  Notaristefano also made eight saves to keep Manhattanville within striking distance.
