MADISON, N.J. - Senior center Chris Hendershot scored a game-high 23 points to lead hot-shooting FDU-Florham to an 86-66 win over Stevens Institute of Technology on Tuesday night in a non-conference men's basketball game at the Ferguson Recreation Center.

FDU-Florham (1-2) never trailed.  Senior forward Jeff Hemschoot scored the first five points of the game.  After a layup by Stevens senior Dan Jordan cut the Devils' lead to three, converted a four-point play and then followed with a layup to give FDU-Florham an 11-2 lead with 16:52 left in the first half.

Stevens (1-2) closed to within five points on two occasions.  Junior guard Jimmy Dominkewicz (Orchard Park, N.Y./Orchard Park) connected on a 3-pointer at the 10:33 mark to pull the Ducks within 25-20.

FDU-Florham countered with a 13-0 run over the next six minutes to extend its lead to 18 points.  Six different Devils contributed to the run.  Hemschoot's layup put FDU-Florham ahead 38-20 with 4:31 left in the half.  The Devils carried a 44-31 lead into the break.

Stevens was never able to cut the lead into single digits in the second half.  A jumper by Dominkewicz cut the FDU lead to 58-48 with 10:22 remaining.  The Devils shot a blistering 66.7 percent (12-for-18) in the second half.

FDU-Florham shot 50.9 percent (27-for-53) from the floor and 78.8 percent (26-for-33) from the free-throw line.  Stevens was limited to just 37.9 percent shooting from the floor (22-for-58).  The Ducks made just six of 22 attempts from beyond the arc (27.3 percent).

Freshman guard Waleed Farid (Woodside, N.Y./Stuyvesant) scored a season-high 18 points to lead Stevens.  Dominkewicz added 17 and sophomore forward Tim Williams (Seldon, N.Y./Newfield) added 14 points and five rebounds off the bench.

Stevens is back in action on Monday, November 29, when it opens Skyline Conference play at home against Yeshiva University.
