STEVENSON, Md. – Junior attack Valerie Barnhart (Gilbertsville, Pa./Boyertown Area) had eight goals and two assists as the Stevens Institute of Technology women’s lacrosse team improved to 5-0 with a 16-10 win over Villa Julie College on Sunday afternoon.

With the score knotted at 3-3 midway through the first half, junior attack Rebecca Quinn (Damascus, Md./Damascus) scored the first of three consecutive Stevens goals at the 17:39 mark.  Barnhart followed with goals at 18:41 and 23:06 as the Ducks built a 6-3 lead.

Villa Julie (0-4), which trailed 8-5 at halftime, got as close as 11-9 on a goal by Molly McCaffrey at the 40:30 mark.  Stevens pulled away by scoring five of the final six goals, including two each by Barnhart and junior midfielder Kim Mirra (Aston, Pa./Sun Valley) in the final 20 minutes.

Stevens held a 36-26 advantage in shots.  Sophomore goalkeeper Missy Scott (Barnegat, N.J./Southern Regional) made 12 saves for the Ducks.  Alexis Meyer had 16 saves for the Mustangs.

Stevens is back in action on Tuesday, February 16, with a 2 p.m. game against Goucher College in Baltimore, Md.
