Field Hockey falls to Eastern Connecticut in season opener, 8-0

MANSFIELD, Conn. - The Stevens Institute of Technology field hockey team opened up its inaugural season on the road and dropped an 8-0 decision to Eastern Connecticut State University on Wednesday.

 

The Warriors got out to an early 5-0 lead in the first half.  They tacked on three more goals in the second half to seal their first victory of the season.  The freshmen and juniors contributed seven out of eight goals to lead Eastern Connecticut on the night.

 

Sophomore goalkeeper Katherine Freed (Rutherford, N.J./Rutherford) picked up 10 saves in her collegiate debut for the Ducks.

 

The Ducks and the Manhattanville Valiants will face-off in Purchase, New York next Wednesday, September 8 at 4 p.m.
