EWING, N.J.- Freshman midfielder Karen Doane tallied six goals and an assist and senior midfielder Lauren Gossner netted seven goals and two assists to lead fifth-ranked College of New Jersey to a 19-4 win over 14th-ranked Stevens in a women’s lacrosse game on Tuesday night at Lions Stadium.
With the loss Stevens falls to 6-2, while College of New Jersey improves to 4-2.
Senior attack Valerie Barnhart (Gilbertsville, Pa./Boyertown Area) led the Ducks with three goals and sophomore midfielder Theresa Dolan (Albertson, N.Y./Mineola) added one in the loss.
TCNJ held a 14-3 lead at halftime. The Lions netted the first 12 goals of the game with Doane leading the way with six. The Ducks broke up the shutout with three straight goals within the last seven minutes of the half, but the Lions answered back with their 13th goal before the break. .
Barnhart scored two of her goals in the first half and added one five minutes into the second. Dolan netted her sixth goal of the season with 1:54 to play in the first.
Freshman Stephanie Linder (Eatontown, N.J./Monmouth Regional) made 6 saves for the Ducks.
Stevens is back in action on Thursday, April 7when it hosts Kean University at 7 p.m. at DeBaun Field.
