POMONA, NJ – Aimee Rendine scored off a penalty corner from Kristen Woodrow 2:20 into overtime for Richard Stockton as the Ospreys pulled out a 1-0 victory over the Stevens Institute of Technology in field hockey action Saturday afternoon in Pomona, NJ. The Ducks (5-2) played the Ospreys (4-5) evenly throughout the match with both teams trying to capitalize on limited scoring opportunities.
Stockton held a slim, 14-13 edge in shots, while the Ospreys recorded 19 penalty corners to Stevens’ six.
Stevens dominated play in the first half, but failed to capitalize on its opportunities, offensively. Stockton seized momentum towards the end of regulation and continued to hold control in overtime before registering the decisive score.
Senior Valerie Barnhart (Gilbertsville, PA) led Stevens offensively with two shots on-goal.
Freshman Stephanie Smith (Hockessin, DE) had seven saves for Stevens, while Caitlin Nolan posted three stops for the Ospreys.
The Ducks round out their three-game road trip at DeSales, Wednesday, Sept. 28, at 4 p.m.
