Women’s Soccer Rolls Past Mount Saint Mary 8-1

Freshman Alison Amos led the Ducks with a goal and two assists in their 8-1 win over the Blue Knights.

NEWBURGH, NY (September 26, 2005) – Freshman Alison Amos (Plano, TX) tallied a goal and two assists to lead the Stevens Institute of Technology women’s soccer team past Mount Saint Mary 8-1 Wednesday evening in Newburgh, NY.  The Ducks earned their 34th consecutive conference victory and improved to 9-1 overall and  3-0 in the conference, while the Blue Knights fell to 3-7 overall and 0-2 in the conference with the loss.

Amos netted the Ducks first goal at the 1:18 mark off a free kick from 25 yards out.  Amos and senior Coralynn Jones (Stevensville, MT) assisted senior Lorrie Brabender (Newark, DE) to register Stevens second goal just 10 minutes later. 

Freshman Salme Cook (Fairfax, VA) scored from 30 yards out on a pass from Amos to give the Ducks a 3-0 advantage.  Kaitlin Hunt netted a goal for Mount Saint Mary before the end of the half, giving the Ducks a two-goal advantage entering the break.

Freshman Audra Clark (Dallas, TX) started the scoring for the Ducks in the second half when she headed in a corner kick in the 58th minute.  Sophomore Catherine Rotsides (Morristown, NJ) and freshman Kristen Wolf (Matawan, NJ) each tallied their first goals of the season 10 minutes apart to give Stevens a 6-1 edge over Mount Saint Mary.

Freshman Meghan Tennyson (Folsom, LA) totaled her team leading seventh goal of the season at the 81:25 mark off a pass from freshman Emily Palk (New Milford, NJ).  Palk earned her second assist three minutes later when she connected with Wolf who netted her second goal of the game.

Stevens controlled possession throughout, outshooting Mount Saint Mary 62-2.  The Ducks held a 15-0 advantage in corner kicks in the game.   

Stevens is back in action on Saturday, Oct. 1, when it hosts Union at 6 p.m. at DeBaun Field.
