WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (March 14, 2006) - The Stevens Institute of Technology women’s lacrosse team was defeated, 20-8, by Dickinson College on Tuesday morning in West Palm Beach, Fla. The loss drops the Ducks to 0-3 this season.
Stevens scored four goals each half and trailed Dickinson 11-4 at the break.
Freshman midfielder Erinn Hopkins (Monrovia, Md.) led the Ducks with three goals, scoring her third goal on a free-position shot. Sophomore attack Liz Mather (Chagrin Falls, Ohio) netted her first two goals of the season against the Red Devils. Sophomore attack Kaitlyn Roes (Stillwater, N.J.) and freshman attack Dana Perriello (Pittsburgh, Pa.) each added a goal on free-position shots and senior attack Mary Schurgot (Barnegat, N.J.) added her first goal of the season in the game.
In the first half, sophomore goalkeeper Stephanie Linder (Eatontown, N.J.) made six saves. Freshman goalkeeper Grace Sack (Cazenovia, N.Y.) had three saves taking over play in the second half.
Roes picked up six ground balls for Stevens and Mather had five in the game.
The Ducks are back in action on Thursday, March 16, when they face Washington College at 9 a.m. to close out their trip in West Palm Beach, Fla.
