Women's Lacrosse Drops to Rowan, 14-8

GLASSBORO, N.J.  (April 19, 2006)  -  Junior attack Katie Kline (Collingswood, N.J.) and senior midfielder Maggie Goodman (Mt. Laurel, N.J.) scored four goals each to lead Rowan University past the Stevens Institute of Technology women’s lacrosse team, 14-8, on Wednesday night in Glassboro, N.J.  With the loss the Ducks drop to 4-9 overall, while the Profs improve to 9-3 with the win.

Rowan jumped out to an early 3-0 lead within the first seven minutes of the game.  Stevens cut the lead to one after goals by sophomore attack Liz Mather (Chagrin Falls, Ohio) and senior attack Melissa Scott (Barnegat, N.J.) at the 23:09 and 20:55 marks.  Rowan scored three straight goals within 6:34 to take a 6-2 advantage.  The Ducks netted the final goal of the half at 2:56 when Scott fed freshman attack Dana Perriello (Pittsburgh, Pa.) for her first tally of the game. 

After the break, Rowan scored five straight goals taking its biggest lead of the game, 11-3.  The Ducks fought back with four straight goals of their own to close the Profs lead to four.  Freshman Erinn Hopkins (Monrovia, Md.) found the net at 16:56 and sophomore midfielder Kaitlyn Roes (Stillwater, N.J.) followed with her own goal just twenty seconds later.  Mather and Perriello posted their second goals of the game to close to within, 11-7, with 12:14 to play.  Freshman midfielder Lauren Crennan (Pottstown, Pa.) notched her second goal for the Profs at 9:53, but Hopkins countered with a score at 9:05.  Rowan scored the final two goals to seal the victory.

Sophomore Stephanie Linder (Eatontown, N.J.) had seven saves in goal for the Ducks. 

Stevens is back in action on Saturday, April 22 when it hosts Centenary College in conference action at 4 p.m.
