Women's Lacrosse Drops to No. 6 TCNJ

HOBOKEN, N.J.  (April 9, 2006)  -  Senior midfielder Lauren Dougher (Blue Bell, Pa.) paced sixth-ranked The College of New Jersey with four goals and an assist as they defeated the Stevens Institute of Technology women’s lacrosse team, 15-1, on Saturday afternoon at DeBaun Field.  With the loss, the Ducks drop to 3-7 overall.  The Lions, who picked up their fourth straight win, improve to 6-2.

TCNJ jumped out to an early 4-0 lead within the first 10 minutes of the game when Dougher and senior midfielder Bridget Bigley (Cherry Hill, N.J.) collected two goals apiece.  The Lions extended their lead to 11-0 with seven straight goals within a 12:13 span.  Sophomor midfielder Toni-Anne Cavallo (Cedar Grove, N.J.) and sophomore attack Kate Neese (Pottstown, Pa.) picked up two goals each during TCNJ’s run.

Stevens was able to get on the board as freshman midfielder Erinn Hopkins (Monrovia, Md.) scored to break the shutout.  The Lions went into the locker room at halftime with a 12-1 lead.

Hopkins picked up her team-leading 25th goal of the season for Stevens in the game.

Sophomore Stephanie Linder (Eatontown, N.J.) made 12 saves in goal for the Ducks. 

Stevens is back in action on Wednesday, when it hosts the College of Mount Saint Vincent at 4 p.m. at DeBaun Field.
