PISCATAWAY, N.J. (September 13, 2006) – Freshman forward Nicole Cook (Fallbrook, Calif.) netted her second goal of the season and the game-winner to lead the Stevens Institute of Technology field hockey team to a 1-0 victory over Kean University on Wednesday. With the win, the Ducks improved to 5-1 on the season and marks the first time in three years that Stevens has defeated the Cougars.
With 20 minutes remaining in the game, junior defender Stephanie Linder (Eatontown, N.J.) passed the ball from backfield to sophomore midfielder Kerri Polidore (Garwood, N.J.), who was set-up on the right side. Polidore found Cook at the top of the circle and Cook sent in a shot while moving to give the Ducks the advantage.
Stevens will return to action on Saturday when it hosts Nazareth College in its Empire 8 home opener at 1 p.m.
