THROGGS NECK, N.Y. (January 27, 2007) – The Stevens Institute of Technology men’s and women’s swim teams each collected victories over Maritime College on Saturday afternoon. The women earned a 119-43 win, while the men totaled their fourth victory of the season, 118-81.
Freshman Stephanie Miller (Bellebrook, Ohio) led the women with three first-place finishes. Senior Vadim Gordin (Ocean Township, N.J.) and freshman Steven Crouch (Huntsville, Ala.) each took home top honors in two events to lead the men.
Miller placed first individually in the 200-yard individual medley (2:37.08) and the 200-yard breaststroke (2:51.03). She was also a part of the first-place 400-yard medley relay team. Freshman Ashley Jo-Watson (Kingston, Jamaica) placed first in the 100-yard freestyle (1:05.91) and was a member of the first-place 400-yard free relay team for Stevens. Freshman Rachel Marcuson (Mississauga, Ontario) also earned a top finish for Stevens with a first-place showing in the 500-yard freestyle (7:08.61).
Crouch was a double-winner with top honors in the 200-yard IM (2:19.82) and the 200-yard breastroke (2:31.50), while Gordin earned first-place finishes in the 200-yard freestyle (1:58.39) and 200-yard backstroke (2:12.35).
The swimming teams are back in action on Wednesday when they travels to Garden City, N.Y. to face Adelphi University at 6:30 p.m.
