HOBOKEN, N.J. (September 20, 2007) – Senior forward Mike Kaiser tallied a game-high four goals and 11 shots on Wednesday night at the De Baun Athletic Complex as the seventh-ranked Stevens Institute of Technology men's soccer team blanked Vassar College, 6-0. With the win, the Ducks improve to 7-0-2 on the year, while the Brewers drop to 5-2.
The Ducks, who out-shot the Brewers by a 35-4 count on the evening, took the early lead in the ninth-minute on a goal by sophomore forward Terrance Johnson. Senior midfielder Ryan Wilkison was tabbed with the assist. Five minutes later, Kaiser scored his first of four consecutive goals on the night on an unassisted effort. Then, in the 34th-minute, Kaiser earned his second score on a pitch from freshman defender Michael Quijano.
In the closing half, Kaiser notched his third and fourth tallies on the night off feeds from Johnson and sophomore forward Todd Sheridan in the 63rd- and 66th-minute, respectively. The Ducks concluded the scoring in the 68th-minute when junior forward Erick Muse placed a shot into the top-right corner of the net on a breakaway.
Stevens' freshman keepers Zach Carr and Sam Callari each recorded time in net to preserve their third consecutive shutout, while Vassar sophomore goaltender Jake London (Albany, N.Y.) turned aside a game-high 11 shots. The Ducks held a 6-5 edge in corner kicks.
Head Coach Tim O'Donohue and his squad continue their five-game homestand this Saturday when they play host to Empire 8 rival Ithaca College. Kick-off is scheduled for 4 p.m.
