Byrne Posted Seven Kills as Women's Volleyball Cruises to 3-0 Win over Rutgers-Newark

HOBOKEN, N.J. (September 28, 2007) – Freshman outside hitter Sarah Byrne registered seven kills, six digs and four service aces as the 23rd-ranked Stevens Institute of Technology women's volleyball team swept Rutgers University-Newark in three games by the scores of 30-11, 30-16 and 30-16. The Ducks recorded 14 service aces in the victory as they extend their season record to 16-1.

Sophomore outside hitter Laura Johnson led the Ducks in kills (11) as she collected five digs and one ace. Freshman libero Kristina Wilson had a game-high 10 digs with two service aces, while junior middle blocker Bethany Rankie added six kills.

The Ducks received strong performances from their freshmen libero's Brittany Conroy and Sara Budar. Conroy posted 19 assists while Budar tallied 17. Senior outside hitter Dawn Herring and junior middle blocker Alexa Bianchi each amassed five kills with a pair of digs.

Stevens will return to action tomorrow at noon as it faces off against Moravian College in the Franklin and Marshall tri-match tournament held in Lancaster, Pa. At 2:30 p.m. they will play Richard Stockton College followed by a 4:30 p.m. start against Franklin and Marshall College.
