Shields' 84th-Minute Tally Propels Field Hockey to 1-0 Win Over FDU-Florham

MADISON, N.J. (September 29, 2007) – Junior midfielder Allison Shields netted the game-winning goal with less than two minutes remaining in the first overtime period on Saturday afternoon at Robert T. Shields Field as the Stevens Institute of Technology field hockey team defeated Fairleigh Dickinson University, 1-0. With the win, the Ducks earned their fourth-straight victory to go to 8-2 on the year, while the Devils fell to 5-5 overall.

Shields scored in the 84th-minute on an unassisted effort, providing for the only score of the day. Stevens' junior goalkeeper Stephanie Smith and FDU junior goaltender Jamie SanFilippo (Succasunna, N.J.) made three saves each for their respective squads.

Head Coach Jessica Reed and her team return to action this Wednesday when the Ducks host the Valiants of Manhattanville College at the De Baun Athletic Complex. The opening face-off is slated for 4 p.m.
